System Overview

Reliance Hose Company requested a mobile air system to safely fill SCBA cylinders while on scene of fire or training. This system allows the department to fill SCBA cylinders from the mobile system while the SCBA cylinder is safely held in the containment fill station during filling process. In the event of a cylinder failure fragments will be contained in the fill station without harm to the operator. For maximum efficiency of the storage system the booster pump allows each storage cylinder to be used down to a pressure of 800 lbs before switching to another storage cylinder is required. The booster pump also allows the storage cylinders to be topped off to their maximum storage of 6000 PSI after retuning from the call or training.

System Components

• Sierra Booster Pump model 12000-00, 110 volt single phase, 1.5 HP motor, single 6000 PSI maximum pressure, weight 145 lbs, size 30.75” L X 19” W X 15.5” High. One year warranty
  
• Mako #MCFS-1 single SCBA mobile certified containment fill station with CGA 347 fill adapter, inline shut off valve and bleeder valve. One year warranty. Wt 300 lbs, size 38.5” H X 20.5” W X 23.5” D.
  
• Taylor Wharton HC6000, 6000 PSI, D.O.T. air storage cylinders (3), 509 cubic foot storage each, total 1,527 cubic foot air storage with CGA 702 cylinder valves. Five year warranty on storage cylinders.

System Modifications

Modification of existing mobile air control panel includes: removal of low pressure regulator, gauge and connections from panel, install plates to cover holes, one (1) Aqua 6000 PSI 0-6000 PSI adjustable self-relieving regulator to replace 5000 PSI maximum pressure Tescom regulator currently in panel, two Parker 6000 PSI three way ball valves to switch booster pump to refill mobile cascade from in-house cascade and to switch booster to fill SCBA cylinders from mobile cascade, includes stainless steel tubing and adapters to plumb together and panel labels, three (3) CGA 702 nipples and nuts for storage cylinder valves, three (3) four foot lengths of 6000 PSI hose to connect cylinders to air control panel and two (2) four foot length of 6000 PSI hoses to connect booster pump to panel and panel to containment fill station, installation of containment SCBA fill station (cut hole and install vent pad over vent), mount booster pump on top of containment fill station and labor. Two year warranty on parts and installation.
