Company History
Susquehanna Fire Equipment Company was founded in 1951 by Max L. Foust, Sr. Mr. Foust's primary business was Fire Extinguisher sales and service. At that time he also worked as a firefighter at Indiantown Gap Military Reservation near Harrisburg.
Mr. Foust started the business in his home, using his garage as a base for the fire extinguisher service business. The garage was later expanded to include a fully functional hydrostatic testing and recharge facility for all types of fire extinguishers. As our products and services became more widely known, and with requests from local fire departments, Susquehanna Fire Equipment expanded its facilities and ventured into the sales of fire fighting equipment for fire departments.
In 1970, Mr. Foust retired as a full time firefighter after 25 years of service, and began operating the Company on a full time basis. In the next few years, Max L. Foust, II, Keith D. Foust and Linda L. (Foust) Confer were hired as the Company continued to expand.
In August of 1981, the Company moved to its present location, just a few miles north of the original location. The newly renovated location featured space for offices, service facilities and warehousing.
In January 1984, Susquehanna Fire Equipment Company was incorporated. At that time ownership was transferred to Max L. Foust, II, Keith D. Foust and Linda L. Confer, children of the owner. Presently, Max L. Foust, II is serving as President and Keith D. Foust, is serving as Vice President. Linda L. Confer, Secretary/Treasurer, retired in 1998.
In 1995 the Company expanded into the Pittsburgh area. Within three years a showroom was opened to provide additional products and services to our customers in western Pennsylvania. Located in, North Huntingdon, Pa., this location offers a showroom, Survivair SCBA Warranty Service Center with a full time certified technician, Fire Equipment Sales Representatives, Office Administrator and Customer Service Representative.
Currently Susquehanna Fire Equipment Company has ten full time Sales Representatives, and over 20 part time Sales Representatives, serving Pennsylvania, and surrounding states. In additions to our full time Sales Representatives, Susquehanna Fire Equipment Company employs Customer Service Representatives to assist our Clients and Sales Representatives.
Susquehanna Fire Equipment Company is proud to have celebrated a half-century of serving Clients in 2001. Our relationship with many of our Clients and Vendors has gone back as many years. Our commitment to customer satisfaction is second to none, and has been the most important aspect of our relationship with our Clients and Vendors.
